A Closer Look: #4

Norman Mannella—assistant professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy with a research specialty in experimental condensed matter physics—uses a small viewer to observe the position of a sample inside an ARPES chamber. ARPES, or angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, is a technique used to examine electron distribution in solids and provide imaging of the electronic structure of different materials.
