Creativity fueled by curiosity is evident in the ways our community members use their understanding of the natural world and human experience to evoke emotion, question the norm, contribute to the built environment, and transform lives through objects, places, and experiences.
High Visibility
When Crystal Wagner (’08) was getting ready to create one of her large-scale installations for the Flaming Lips’ Christmas party in 2014, she told them, “I like to wake up at 6:00 a.m., run, and then be in the gallery by 8:00 a.m.” Lead singer Wayne Coyne “laughed a little and told me I would have to shift my schedule to be more like a rock star. The Carousel’s Cultural Crucible
First-time visitors to campus might find the Carousel Theatre to be a bit of an oddity. In a part of campus where the buildings of modernist brick and concrete are monumentally large, this short, fat building appears to be made of wood. Right now it’s covered with interesting blown-up photographs representing several decades of UT theatre, but you might be forgiven if you assume it’s a temporary building, protecting something inside. Outstanding Impressions
Our nationally ranked graduate printmaking program produces artists, educators, and business owners who make outstanding impressions worldwide. Ranked second in the United States since 2016, the UT Master of Fine Arts program in printmaking has spent more than two decades among the nation’s elite programs. The training ground is UT’s 4,500-square-foot printshop, where students etch designs into metal plates, slather printing rollers with ink, and create everything from posters to fine art. Read More. |
